Pitchfork Media, the self proclaimed "home of the gratuitously in-depth record review," is a webzine dedicated to tracking music news and doling out thorough, clever opinions on new releases. Based in Chicago and founded by Ryan Schreiber (a finalist for Time's 2009 "Most Influential People" list), the site is a continuously updated resource for tour and chart information. It also boils each review down to an instantly digestible numerical rating. Judged on a 1-10 scale, only tracks and albums with a score of 8 or higher make it into Pitchfork's best new music category.
